VIRUS ALERT! “WIN 7 SECURITY 2012” - A MOST VICIOUS VIRUS!!
I was hit again by a computer virus after one year. It is called “Win 7 Security 2012”. It pretends it is the legitimate bundle of Microsoft Windows security applications (Firewall, Security Essentials, anti-virus etc.) This virus even fakes the normal Windows icons!
I had a big headache again. But, unlike last year, I was well prepared. I had that nightmare caused by PC Tools:

I have now an external hard drive. I “religiously” create a system image at least every month. In any event, I create the system image after every Windows update, or browser updates, or any software updates…
Was it useful or what? I had my system restored in less than half an hour. The external hard drive (Seagate FreeAgent Drive) also holds the backups of many folders on the internal drives of my PC.
Microsoft has a resource regarding “Win 7 Security 2012, including help on removing the virus:

If you don’t have a system image, beware that the virus prevents you from accessing the Internet!
