The U.S. Healthcare System Is an Organized Crime (Extortion)
You might as well call it (but not by phone, please!) the Insurance & Healthcare Cosa Nostra.
On July 7, 2011, I had a severe skin rash probably caused by poison ivy or a chemical agent. I wrote about it on my Facebook. I drove my car to the Gettysburg Hospital. My visit to the emergency room lasted less than one hour. I was given prescription for a medicine that cost $4. Probably slip-of-tongue caused the doctor to inform me that even over-the-counter medicine ($4 Benadryl) could have healed my condition easily!
Then, I received the bill from the hospital. Amount due: $630.75. Discount (for not using the ambulance?): $31.53. Amount due: $599.22. OUTRAGEOUS!
Here is the hospital bill:

I wrote about healthcare issues in my forums previously, especially after I thought I heard “phantom” noises in my ears:

“Mr. Speaker, the Healthcare Reform Law is not the killer you mouth-foam-scream-complain about — You are the killer! Innocent people suffer, even die, because of lack of basic healthcare of any kind — including the socialized healthcare You and the U.S. Congress personally benefit from — and fight against it so that ordinary U.S. citizens wouldn’t benefit from that goddamn socialistic healthcare system.” Such cruel hypocrisy!
The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives OFFICIALLY calls the healthcare reform the JOB-KILLING LAW. You gotta speak like the . . . Speaker! Otherwise, nobody would hear you. . . So, I continued accordingly:
“Mr. Killer of the U.S. House of Representatives, I won’t let you get away with this crime! I’m gonna call you Mr. Killer, until you take steps to fix the healthcare law of still-the-most- rich-nation on earth… Tell you what: Just the cost of your tan and that perfectly-parted hairdo would healthcare-cover one million Americans, formerly-poor-boy from Ohio!
I guess, the insurance companies know what they are paying for, formerly poor boy from Ohio, who now does his hair as of to f*k all the bitches in the swamp of Washington, DC! You are the Speaker for the Insurance & Healthcare Cosa Nostra.”
Add also the designer suits, the designer shoes, and the designer golf apparel the Speaker wears. Even an amateur psychoanalyst will tell you that the Speaker is sexually obsessed. He badly wants to attract the opposite sex by wearing well thought of, expensive clothing and cosmetic do-over.
I heard the following comment from Americans and also people living in other countries. I don’t think it is tongue-in-cheek jeu de mots. They say, rich, white, extreme right-wing Americans do want many poor Americans disappear. “You don’t have health insurance?! You don’t deserve to be (not here, anyway). You are a burden to the nation of the well-to-do. You must disappear.” Of course, the vast majority of the Americans without health insurance belong to the minorities: Blacks, Hispanics, immigrants . . .
There is stronger and stronger evidence that the extreme right advocates euthanasia in disguise. It is not simple coincidence that the extreme right uses a lot — actually, abuses — the term Nazi. As soon as they become incapable of intelligent debating — they label the opponents Nazi. Everything is Nazi — to the center or to the left of the extreme right. That definitely represents the consummate example of Freudian slip-of-tongue.
Freudian analysis: What they want to hide bursts out from the unconscious zone. In truth, the extreme right wingers behave like Nazis! Intolerance and hatred toward anybody who doesn’t share their values! Shoot the foreigners at the border! Deport all immigrants — except for themselves! Who isn’t an immigrant in the U.S. of A.? The Native Americans themselves immigrated to America a mere 13,000 years ago from Central Asia and Siberia (before the Gulags!) Americans, be armed and dangerous — but only the “Tea Party Americans” would have the right to arm themselves and shoot!
Neighboring Canada is a great country. Canada is a developed nation, with an advanced national healthcare system. It appears to be a free health system, but it is financed by progressive taxation. Many Yankees “flee” to Canada to get free health care and very cheap medication (most “Canadian” drugs are manufactured in U.S.A.!) The Yankees chase the Mexicans at the South border. Now, the Canadians chase the U.S. Americans at the U.S. North frontier! The reason: The cheating Yankees increase the cost of the Canadian healthcare system! The Americans burden the smaller nation of Canada!
The Canadians voted as the most influential politician in their history the pioneer who established the Canadian national healthcare system. That politician (a Prime Minister, I believe) did NOT have it the easy way. It was a hard fight, pretty much resembling the healthcare “warfare” taking place in today’s USA. Virtually no Canadian would give up their national healthcare system today. They’d rather shoot them Yankees at the border than return to a private healthcare system!
The British went through a similar situation at the end of World War II. Great Britain, too, has now an excellent national healthcare system.
But forget about those two rich nations (one was the only superpower when WWII started). My poison-ivy irritation or my noise-in-the-ears-condition would have been effectively and very cheaply treated even in a poor nation!
The same type of healthcare can be implemented in the United States as well. The process already started. However, there is strong right-wing opposition to the healthcare reform that was legislated in 2010. They oppose the healthcare reform mostly for hypocritical reasons. The politicians who oppose the “new” system have benefitted from it for many, many years. Every politician in the U.S. government can consider themselves as “Communists” who enjoy a “socialist” healthcare system!
Another reason for the opposition is downright political jealousy. “Why do you, a right-wing politician, want a Democrat President reap the credit for such a grandiose act . . . similar to social security? Mind you, a Black President on top of being a Democrat . . .”
But, the most unsettling opposition reason to me is Mafia-like buyout. It very much depends who pays for a politician’s election. It happens, in this case, that the insurance and healthcare business finds a loving relationship with the right wing politics. The “sponsors” — and therefore the politicians — mouth-foam that the health care reform of 2010 is a JOB-KILLING law. Thus, the politicians are . . . Speakers for the Insurance & Healthcare Cosa Nostra.
Indeed, between 100,000 and 1 million Americans in the Insurance & Healthcare field could lose their jobs. Those jobs are not needed for the good health of the nation. They represent highly paid jobs. In truth, those employees are luxury beggars. Their jobs are not really needed, but the position-holders are on luxury welfare. They will find new jobs. The auto industry lost millions of jobs. People retrained, some are still on hard times, some found new employment. There was a time in America when horse growing and industries related to horses (wagons, coaches, horseshoes, etc.) were sizzling! All those jobs were lost several decades ago — and will never return. That’s the nature of human history, as opposed to natural history.
They also shoot the horses, don’t they? It was a great film . . .
