Yes there is a bad virus going around right now. There is a really good FREE program that will get rid of the bad stuff. Its called "Malwarebytes". You can download it at CNET.com Its totally free. I have been using this program for quite awhile.

And if you really want the viruses removed. Update the program and restart your computer in safe mode then run malwarebytes while still in safe mode.

Unfortunately, nothing works against this “Win 7 Security 2012” — which has many other names (XP Security, Vista Security, etc.) Microsoft hasn’t been able to create an automatic removal tool. The virus disables Norton Utilities, Ashampoo Windows Optimizer, Firewall, all browsers … and more.

I read at Microsoft site that Malwarebytes only detects the virus, but can’t remove it automatically. The “Win 7 Security 2012” can only be removed manually, in painstaking operations that involve also editing the registry!

The best option: Create and update frequently the System Image (Control Panel, System and Security, Backup Your Computer, Create a System Image). While there, it is also a good idea to Create a System Repair Disk.

Of course, the best action would be to obliterate all those cyber bastards!

UGHHHHHH!!!!

My daughter picked up the VISTA ANTISPYWARE 2012 virus this weekend. So I checked on the internet, and was able to remove it in three easy steps. The only catch was I needed a good computer to download 2 small fix programs to stop the .exe from running while Malwarebytes removed the virus. How about it, Brian? I was attacked again last Friday!!! I didn’t even dare to turn on my PC Saturday. I fixed it again with the System Image.

I don’t know where the virus comes from. I opened some emails I should have not opened because of the subject line or unknown sender. I watched sports on the Internet, plus Netflix movies. I used Skypes, but only with my family.

I removed many contacts. I do not respond to private messages, including my forums. Microsoft must do something about it. This is the worst case of security breach for Windows. The virus changes everything related to security features and software that are supposed to defend Windows. The virus even clones the icons of Windows, especially the Defender and Firewall! I suspect the virus is the creation of guy(s) who worked for Microsoft!

Indeed, the link you posted works with a second computer (uninfected!) You can download the fixes from the Microsoft site to the clean computer. For me, the easiest way is still Restore System Image. Also, I always have fresh backups. But it is annoying … nerve-wrecking …

Yeah.....It sure is a nasty one. I hope they catch those @ssholes that created it.
