    Removing Combinations

Here is my situation: I have a file with possible combinations that were generated with BRIGHT5. Now I also have a file with combinations (that were generated from the make/break option) that i want these combos removed from the first file.

    Example:
    #1 File= Possible Combos
    #2 File=Combinations that I want removed from file #1

I know there must be a way to do this, but for the life of me, I just can't figure this out.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Brian:

I’m afraid it isn’t possible to work with two output files like in your task. You can only purge one of the files. That is, step 1: generate the combinations in Make/Break; step 2: add that output file to your D5; step 3: generate combinations in Bright5 and eliminate all the lines in the make/break output. In MDIEditor and Lotto WE use the ‘Past Draws’ filter equal to the number of lines in the make/break output file.

Maybe somebody here already has source code to strip lines in one file based on lines in another file. Right now, I’m busy with that program to generate 12-number combinations based on 6-number data files.

Thanks for the reply. I know you are busy. I just wanted to post to see if I was missing a way to do this. It was not meant for another piece of software.

I am working on a possible strategy for my 5/43 lottery. I may have really found something, but I would not like to comment on it until further testing and research is done. I dont like to throw things out there without extensive testing, cause I believe there is enough of that kind of stuff out there.

Hope all is well with you Ion!!!
    Best Wishes as ALWAYS!

    Ion,
I have tried what you suggested about using the "eliminate past drawings filter" in MDIEditor&LottoWE. It works perfectly!!!

Here is how I did it:
I'm working with 2 different files. For easier description I will name them:
"GOOD FILE"- The file with potential winning Combo. This was generated using the BRIGHT5 package.
"BAD FILE"- The file consisting of combos that I want eliminated from the "GOOD FILE". This file was created using the make/break option in the BRIGHT5 package.

Now I open MDIEditor and select the "purge file" option under Lotto-5. When it asks for the D5 file, I select the BAD FILE. Then when it asks for the file to purge, I select the GOOD FILE. When the filter window opens up, I dont select any filters at all, just enter the number of draws in the BAD FILE, in the box for "Eliminate The Past ?? Draws" and click OK. It works GREAT!! And the speed of elimination is very satisfactory for me.

Just thought I would share how I was doing this, just incase anyone else was inquiring about it.

    Further Filtering Bound,
    BrianPA

By now — just before the end of 2010 — that BrianPA’s suggestion was incorporated in a powerful new feature of the Bright software: LIE Elimination. Read another thread here:

New Feature in Bright Lotto Software: Remove Unwanted Combinations

By now — just before the end of 2010 — that BrianPA’s suggestion was incorporated in a powerful new feature of the Bright software: LIE Elimination. Read another thread here:

Also the page dedicated to lottery strategy in reverse (the LIE eliminating function) was updated (June 2011):
