Advice to other newbies, Check your data files!
I Just wanted to post this for any other newbies out there
I've only been playing with Ion's software for a few months (by the way - great software Ion! appreciate the DOS oops I mean command prompt interface), and after a rough start where I posted with problems with strategy checking on lotto 6 which turned out to be my fault when I generated a bad sim6 file
I've had some success with the software sometimes real, sometimes just on paper, only low tier wins or just a few numbers hitting with no wins (still working on developing a strategy for the higher tier wins)
But then suddenly I was getting nothing at all, and I started having trouble generating the wd and md files, getting errors or the strategy checking would not work (similar to when I had a bad sim file)
I persevered for 3-4 weeks then had a good look at my data files and found they were corrupted, the top draws were ok, but at the bottom of the file I had some zeros that were offsetting the numbers of the draws above, I checked several other data files for other lottos in my country that i work with, with the same problem.
I've finally found that when I downloaded the draw files from the official lottery site (instead of updating the data file manually - I was being lazy) and edited the cvs file to remove dates, draw number and bonus numbers, I was causing a problem at the bottom of the file that I was not noticing, This really messed up all of the reporting of the filters, thus causing (I assume - although it could also have been me testing several different strategies and making bad decisions on the filter settings) the sudden change in results
So it's a good idea to run the data file checking software parsel.exe
And do a quick manual check as well doesn't hurt
Cheers
Macka
